BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF PARTNER

Magen David Adom in Israel (MDA) is the national Emergency Medical Service for the state of Israel, national blood service and the national Red Cross Society. MDA serves 7.8 million inhabitants through nine state of the art operations centres with a highly advanced C4I system, a fleet of around 900 vehicles, including basic and advanced life support ambulances, medical evacuation helicopters, special operations appliances, and motorcycles, all tracked through localisation systems.

MDA has 1 650 staff members and 10.000 volunteers who respond to about 1 250 calls for assistance daily, in addition to tens of thousands of life guardians, responding to nearby emergencies. MDA blood services recruit the donors, collect the unit, test it, and provide the different blood products to the hospitals.

PARTNER’S ROLE IN THE Nightingale PROJECT

MDA contributes to the NIGHTINGALE project from its vast experience in preparing for and responding to mass casualty incidents and other emergency medical incidents. MDA is actively involved in WP1 providing insights on triage, damage control and pre-hospitalisation processes.

MDA leads the task on analysing the state of the field in operational technologies for first responders. This task aims at reviewing technologies that are currently used and accepted by first responders, identifying upcoming technologies to be adopted by emergency response teams, and providing a thorough analysis on challenges and limitations of the NIGHTINGALE toolkit.

MDA also participates in integration testing and validation of the developed tools and user familiarisation with them.
